LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) - The Livingston Parish 911 center began taking on floodwater Friday evening, officials reported.
Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard says workers are putting sandbags in place at the facility, which is located off Satsuma Road near I-12 in Satsuma.
Ard says dispatchers are still able to work in the center. Dispatchers are being brought to and from the facility by boat to due floodwaters in the area, the sheriff said.
The sheriff says plans are in place to receive 911 calls at other facilities if necessary, but he is hopeful it will not reach that point.
