BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

An early morning fire is under investigation after about 20 people were displaced from a residential building Tuesday.

Crews with the St. George and Baton Rouge fire departments were called out to a structure fire at fourplex in the 2000 block of Jasper Avenue around 12:05 a.m. Tuesday. Officials said the fire could be seen through sections of the roof when firefighters first arrived.

It took firefighters around two and a half hours to get the fire under control.

None of the residents were injured, but two firefighters were with one being treated for exhaustion on the scene and another taken to the hospital with chest pains. The second firefighter was released later from the hospital.

A dog was also found unresponsive at the scene. However, crews were able to resuscitate the animal.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
