Around 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning, St. Martin Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a 911 call in Parks regarding a suicidal subject requesting assistance.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered the caller inside the home with a deceased male subject, who was later identified as Darrell J. Guilbeaux, 47, of New Iberia. Investigators were called to the scene and the incident was initially ruled a homicide.

After the investigation, Guilbeaux's half-brother, Wilfred J. Viator, 50, of St. Martinville was arrested.

Viator is charged with one count of second degree murder. No bond has been set at this time.
