BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a man accused of stealing from a home where he was hired as a contractor to do construction work.
Matthew Williams, 27, is facing a simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling.
According to deputies with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, Williams allegedly stole several items including a diamond ring from a house after doing some work for the homeowner in March.
While investigating, detectives discovered that Williams sold the ring on March 23 to a Livingston Parish jewelry store.
Investigators said Williams was also wanted by Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office for, possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics and by Denham Springs Police for forgery, injuring public records, resisting an officer and theft of goods.
According to officials, Williams was arrested at a residence on Gaylord Road in Livingston Parish Friday. While at the residence, LPSO also recovered a small quantity of drugs, a firearm, and made two additional arrests.
