WALKER, LA (WAFB) - A hazmat team was called to a Livingston facility Tuesday afternoon after one person sustained chemical burns.
According to the Louisiana State Police, the hazmat crew was called to Woodside RDF in Walker for an incident involving a driver falling into a solidification pit. The driver sustained heat burns and was transported to the hospital with two other minor medical needs.
No hazardous materials were involved in the incident. Additionally, officials say there is no off-site impact and no threat to public safety.
The Livingston Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (LOHSEP) is working with the local fire department, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, Louisiana State Police, and Waste Management to further investigate the incident.
