BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Associated Press released its all-time top 100 college football poll on Monday and LSU landed just outside the top 10.
LSU earned the No. 11 ranking in the poll. The Tigers first ranking was in 1936, they have won two AP championships and have been ranked No. 1, 30 times in the 70 year history of the poll.
The Tigers finished the 2015 season at No. 16 with a 9-3 record. The highest ranking last year for LSU was No. 2 before losing to Alabama, Arkansas and Ole Miss.
The AP has ranked football teams since 1936, which includes 1,103 polls and 44 different teams ranked in the No. 1 position.
The Tigers best decade in the AP Poll? Without a doubt the 2000's when LSU appeared in 82.53% of the polls. The worst? The 1950's when the Tigers appeared in only 25.86% of the polls.
Alabama is the highest ranked SEC team at No. 4 behind Ohio State, Oklahoma and Notre Dame.
