GRAMERCY, LA (WAFB) -

An Imperial Sugar packing facility in Gramercy, Louisiana will permanently close in September, resulting in a loss of 49 jobs, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC).

The facility is located on Highway 641 in St. James Parish.

In a notice sent to the state, the company that owns the facility, Louis Dreyfus Company Services, llc., said, “All of the impacted employees have been notified that their expected last day of employment will be September 30, 2016.”

The LWC says it has scheduled orientation sessions and re-employment workshops for all affected employees.
