EAST FELICIANA PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

According to Zachary Police Chief David McDavid, a violent, early morning break in led to a manhunt in East Feliciana Parish Sunday morning.

The Chief says two suspects broke into a home between 2 - 3 a.m. and beat the homeowner before running off with a number of firearms. The injuries sustained by the homeowner are unknown at this time. He believes the suspects escaped to the Jackson, LA area, where Louisiana State Police and the East Feliciana Sheriff's Office were called in to help search.

Officials no longer believe the suspects are in the Jackson area, but according to Zachary Police, the suspects are considered armed and dangerous.

The manhunt has since been called off, but investigators have recovered several guns and a stolen vehicle. It is not clear at this time whether the vehicle was stolen from the home or elsewhere.

Investigators are still collecting evidence from the scene. DNA collected will be sent to the state crime lab.

The investigation is ongoing at this time. We will continue to update the story as more information becomes available.
