HOUMA, LA (WAFB) - A sheriff's deputy was able to rescue a baby who was accidentally locked in a car Friday afternoon, according to officials.
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office said Lt. Doug Chauvin Jr. responded to a 911 call just before 4 p.m. about a 4-month-old locked in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Southland Mall in Houma.
According to reports, dispatch told Chauvin the baby had been crying and then stopped crying.
Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said it took Chauvin about a minute to use a device to get the door unlocked and save the small child.
He added the baby is fine and no charges were filed.
