BAKER, LA (WAFB) - Detectives said two men were arrested in connection with an armed robbery and shooting after allegedly luring the victim to the scene using an app designed to let users meet new people.
The Baker Police Department reported Danny Wilson, 18, and Michael Young, 19, both from Baker, were arrested Friday.
Investigators said it happened on Teakwood Avenue in Baker around 2 a.m.
According to reports, a Baton Rouge man said he met Wilson via the Badoo app and agreed to meet him in person. Detectives believe Wilson used a rifle to rob the man of his cell phone with Young's help.
They added the victim drove behind Wilson, reportedly trying to follow him after the robbery. Authorities reported Wilson fired at the victim's vehicle and the victim called police. The victim was not injured.
Detectives reported a search of Wilson's home turned up a rifle and ammunition, "which is identical to the caliber and brand of spent shell casings from the scene of the shooting."
They added Wilson admitted to the robbery and shooting. They also stated he implicated Young in the robbery, who reportedly admitted to being involved and allegedly led them to the victim's stolen cell phone.
Wilson and Young were both booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of attempted second-degree murder, armed robbery and illegal use of a weapon. No bond was set.
