Veteran head coach Frank Monica and the St. Charles Catholic Comets coming off another big year, reaching state semifinals before losing big to the Riverside Rebels.
Monica is known for downplaying his team and their chances, but this year, there are truly some obstacles to overcome.
Monica said that the Comets only have two starters total coming back. The team lost 20 out of 22 starters from 2015.
"We have a quarterback that played out of default because our starter got hurt, and I have tackle that's back," Monica said. "But other than that, we lost the entire team of defense. But you know, sometimes graduation is good, and I think these young kids, they really really have to mature."
