Deputies arrest suspect wanted in St. Jean Apartments shooting

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A man investigators have been trying to find for three months in connection with a robbery and shooting was arrested Thursday.

James Ely, 27, is accused of shooting a man at the St. Jean Apartments on Harrells Ferry Road in Baton Rouge on April 17.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Ely shot the victim several times during an armed robbery. Deputies said the victim survived the shooting and is expected to make a full recovery.

Ely was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery and illegal use of a weapon. His bond was set at $275,000.
