Police said they arrested a suspect accused of trying to rob a man and then shooting him.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Willie Pounds, 24, was booked on felony charges Wednesday.

Investigators said the incident happened Tuesday on Alliquippa Street near Mohican Street.

An arrest report stated Pounds asked the victim for a ride. It added at some point, Pounds asked for bail money, but the victim refused.

Pounds allegedly pulled out a gun and demanded money, but the victim reportedly said he didn’t have any and stopped the car.

According to the report, Pounds "then began firing the handgun, striking the victim in the head."

Authorities said the victim was taken to the emergency room and treated for a "brain bleed."

Pounds is charged with attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery. Bond was not set.
