BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Hope grows is the motto of a new community garden in north Baton Rouge.
Mayor Kip Holden, ExxonMobil and HOPE Ministries cut the ribbon on the brand new community garden.
"We're gonna do a lot of education, and offer people an opportunity to have experience with different kinds of food that they might not have experienced before," said Kelli Rogers with HOPE Ministries. "And hopefully increase just the health of this community in a lot of ways, physically, spiritually, emotionally, all of it."
Holden's summer youth program, Love Our Community, built the garden beds and Exxon provided a worker to make sure the plants don't die in the heat.
