IBERVILLE PARISH, LA (WAFB) - The newly selected superintendent in Iberville Parish wants to hit the ground running with parents to help improve schools.
Iberville Parish School Board officials named Arthur Joffrion as the new superintendent Tuesday night.
"Meeting with parents to find out what they see as the district's challenges as well as what the district's strengths are, so we can build upon those, but also so that we can aim to fix what we see as our challenges, to close the achievement gap and to bring the students to dramatically higher performance levels than they've ever been," Joffrion said.
Officials met with two finalists in a special session Tuesday before school board board ultimately decided to go with Joffrion.
Joffrion currently works in Rapides Parish and at LSU Alexandria.
Outgoing superintendent Ed Cancienne is taking the superintendent post in St. James Parish.
