Active Shooter event proceeds going to families of fallen officers

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - On Saturday, July 23, the Baton Rouge Krav Maga will host an Active Shooter seminar.

The seminar will be at 8841 Suite A2 Highland Road from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Baton Rouge Police Department Officer Jeff Pendergrass will be leading the instruction and implementation of long gun and short gun considerations, shooter/defender movement and approach, and how a combative can overwhelm an active threat.

After the seminar, attendees are invited to participate in a question and answer session related to the topics learned, as well as a workshop, and Basic Trauma Treatment and Triage.

Participants will learn basic techniques to aid victims prior to the arrival of medical personnel.

Self-aid, Buddy-Aid, assessing the differences in wounds and their severity, venous bleed versus arterial bleed, and how to use items found in any environment to use as makeshift medical equipment to treat injuries, will be among the focus topics. All proceeds will be donated to the families of the recently fallen Baton Rouge Police Department and East Baton Rouge Sheriff's officers and deputies.

Residents who are unable to attend are more than welcome to drop off donations.

Representatives with Baton Rouge Krav Maga will be delivering donations to a drop point that has already been established for the families.
