NEW ORLEANS (WAFB) - A TripAdvisor study revealed New Orleans to be the least expensive summer vacation location in the United States.
The travel site compared 39 vacation destinations in the U.S. during the study. They compared a two-person vacation, including a four-star hotel for three nights including a visit to three attractions, lunch each day, an Uber or taxi to and from dinner each, plus the cost of the dinner.
"New Orleans is grateful to be showcased as not only one of America's most interesting and authentic cities to travel to this summer, but most importantly at a cost below any other U.S. destination in the review." said Mark Romig, President and CEO of New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation (NOTMC). "Make your travel plans now to visit us during our summer festival season, where there is much to do and see for the entire family."
TripAdvisor's study shows New Orleans lunch prices to be $31 per day, the most affordable nationwide. The site revealed that the average travel cost for the three day vacation is $1,148.
The most expensive destination was Orlando, averaging a $37 lunch and a $2,217 total trip cost.
