BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Sporting News named its top 40 players in the the nation for the 2016 season and it includes two Tigers.

Running back Leonard Fournette is No. 3 on the list and safety Jamal Adams is ranked No. 30.

(3) Leonard Fournette:
Fournette is the most physically gifted running back in college football since Adrian Peterson, and he’s played like it the last two seasons. He rushed for 1,953 yards and 22 TDs last season, and was the Heisman frontrunner until Alabama shut him down.

(30) Jamal Adams:
Adams might be the best all-around defensive back in college football, and he’ll continue on that path to a first-round pick under new defensive coordinator Dave Aranda. Adams totaled 67 tackles and four interceptions last season. He’ll top that this year.

Last week Fournette was named to Hornung Award Watch List and Adams the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List.
