BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU held a community meeting Thursday about the protests following Alton Sterling's death
A large crowd gathered at LSU's African American Cultural Center, where the goal was to be heard and to listen.
"It's a problem that has greatly damaged the African-American community, Dereck Rovaris, LSU's chief diversity officer. "And to have folks from different backgrounds to have conversations about that hopefully begins a further understanding of who we are as individuals and as groups, but certainly who were are as part of this LSU Community where we have to live, learn and work together."
People talked about what offended them, what they didn't understand, and what they wished everyone understood.
Breakout groups meant everyone who wanted to could speak.
