BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The 9News Investigators obtained the schedule for the mayor-president of East Baton Rouge Parish for the week following the death of Alton Sterling after his absence was noted.
Mayor Kip Holden did not attend any rallies or vigils in the Baton Rouge area other than attending a news conference Wednesday. He also has not called the Sterling family following the shooting.
Holden told the 9News Investigators that he is working to secure federal money to help fund better police training and community relations. He joined mayors from 70 other cities in a national conference call with the Justice Department on being proactive to avert tragedies.
Holden said he has met with ministers, community leaders, businesses and law enforcement.
Holden's calendar also shows he flew to Washington D.C. for a meeting Thursday about TramlinkBR with U.S. Congressman Garrett Graves.
Holden said that $120 million of federal money is at stake with an August deadline closing in. Thy city must get the money for the tram to move forward.
