BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Workers at the 19th Judicial District Court in downtown Baton Rouge as well as employees of the parish's two clerk of court offices were sent home at noon Friday for "employee safety."

A source close the matter says the move came out an abundance of caution due to protestors gathered in the area related to Tuesday's police shooting in Baton Rouge.

A court order, signed by Chief Judge William Morvant, said that "the emergency created by concern for employee safety" was leading him to send employees home until 7 a.m. Monday July 11 "unless further extended by Order of this Court."
