Assumption Parish man arrested in ongoing narcotics investigation

NAPOLEONVILLE, LA (WAFB) - Deputies with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office have arrested a Napoleonville man in connection with an ongoing investigation conducted by the Narcotics Division.

Jimmy Converse, 40, was taken into custody on several drug charges June 29 after a warrant allowed deputies to search his home.

Agents found several packages and individual baggies of suspected marijuana, a loaded .38 caliber revolver with the serial number partially destroyed, and cash which authorities believe was acquired through the sale of illegal narcotics.

Converse was booked into the Assumption Parish jail on charges of illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, possession of/dealing in firearms with obliterated serial number, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, second offense felony possession of marijuana, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

No word yet on if his bond has been set.
