TICKFAW, LA (WAFB) -

Deputies with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office investigated a murder-suicide that happened in Tickfaw over the 4th of July weekend.

According to TPSO, deputies were called out in regards to a disturbance with weapons at a home on Ewing Drive in Tickfaw around 9:15 p.m. July 1.

When deputies arrived, they found the bodies of 56-year-old Steven Roumillat and his wife, 52-year-old Susan Roumillat.

Deputies said preliminary findings show that there was a disturbance between the couple, during which Steven Roumillat got a handgun and shot his wife, killing her. Roumillat then took his own life using the handgun, according to TPSO.

"During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers remain with the Roumillat family," said the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office in a release.
