SORRENTO, LA (WAFB) - A man shot his fiancée while she was stopped at an intersection early Tuesday morning, according to investigators.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office reported Jarvis McNair, 26, of Gonzales, is accused of shooting and killing Shondrica Dejoie, 36.
Chief Deputy Bobby Webre said the shooting happened on LA 22 at I-10 in Sorrento around 2 a.m. He added Dejoie had been shot in the mouth and later died at the hospital.
Detectives said the investigation showed McNair followed Dejoie at a high rate of speed until she stopped at the intersection and then "shot her while in her vehicle."
McNair is charged with second-degree murder, illegal use of a firearm, fugitive warrant from the Gonzales Police Department for domestic abuse and aggravated assault with a firearm.
No bond was set.
