Assumption Parish man arrested after sizable narcotics and firearms seizure

ASSUMPTION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

An Assumption Parish man was arrested Tuesday, June 28, after authorities seized a considerable amount of illegal narcotics and firearms from his home.

Murphy Williams Jr., 35, was arrested on multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute marijuana, MDMA, methamphetamine, hydrocodone, oxycodone, and Xanax. Additionally, Williams faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearms by a convicted felon, possession of firearms in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, and possession of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of juveniles.

According to reports, Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office deputies executed a search warrant for Williams’ home at 11:30 p.m. on June 28. Williams and two juveniles were in the home when authorities entered.

In addition to more than 174 grams of various illegal drugs, authorities also recovered a .45 caliber Glock handgun, a 9mm Ruger handgun, assorted ammunition, and over $1,300 in cash.

Williams is currently in custody at the Assumption Parish Jail in Napoleonville.
