BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Former LSU shortstop Alex Bregman has been named to the 2016 All-Star Futures Game.
Bregman is batting .297 with 14 home runs and 46 RBI for the AA Corpus Christi Hooks this season.
The Astros will promote the shortstop/third baseman to Triple-A Fresno following the mid-season classic, according to MLB.com.
Bregman finished his LSU career with a .337 batting average, 56 doubles, 10 triples, 21 homers and 148 RBI. He was selected in the first round (No. 2) by the Houston Astros in the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft.
The Futures Game will take place on Sunday, July 10, at Petco Park in San Diego. It will air at 6 p.m. on the MLB Network.
