BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Crews worked more than 12 hours to put out a fire at the East Baton Rouge Parish North Landfill, according to officials.
Officials with Waste Management, which operates the landfill, said the fire started burning around 5:30 a.m. Monday and was finally extinguished around 7 p.m.
They added it is still not known what caused the fire.
Officials also reported additional equipment was brought in to help snuff out the fire.
They added the fire was contained to one area of the landfill, there were no injuries was hurt and nearby neighborhoods were not in any danger.
