Victim of Blood River boating accident identified

One dead, one injured in boating accident on the Blood River

LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) - The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says that a Prairieville man died Saturday night after a boating accident on the Blood River.

He has been identified as Larry Andre Jr., 59-years-old.

According to the LDWF, Andre and his wife were traveling on the Blood River when the boat collided with a bulkhead and trees and Andre was ejected from the boat just before 10 p.m. The 59-year-old man suffered serious head trauma before going into the water.

The wife, who remained in the boat, suffered minor injuries.

Officials say that Andre was found around 10:15 p.m. and was transported to North Oaks Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officials added that he was not wearing a life vest at the time of the incident.

Andre's body has been turned over to the Livingston Parish Coroner's Office where they will determine an official cause of death.

The LDWF believes that alcohol may have played a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was taken from Andre for analysis.
