BATON ROUGE, La. - LSU left-handed pitcher Jake Latz has decided to leave the program and transfer to another school, coach Paul Mainieri announced Friday.
"I was surprised today to learn of Jake Latz’s decision to transfer," Mainieri said. "We’re disappointed that he has chosen to leave LSU, but we wish him well during the remainder of his career."
Latz, who just completed his redshirt freshman season with the Tigers, appeared in seven games this year after recovering from a stress reaction in his left elbow. He posted an 0-1 mark and a 7.56 ERA in 8.1 innings with four walks and 11 strikeouts.
Latz, a native of Lemont, Ill., made three starts this season, including the Tigers’ SEC Tournament opener against Tennessee and the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional final versus Rice.
