BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

One hundred BugOff insect screens will be distributed by the Salvation Army of Greater Baton Rouge to those who live in homes without air conditioning.

The summer season brings about a greater threat for virus to be spread from insects, and the Salvation Army and BugOff hope to prevent this. Captain Brett Meredith of the Salvation Army, says, “With the threat this year from the Zika virus, we are grateful that BugOff has donated mosquito screens to help protect the homes of the less fortunate in Greater Baton Rouge from the perils of these pests.”

The mosquito nets will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. They will be handed out at the Salvation Army on 7361 Airline Hwy. in Baton Rouge on June 30. Distribution will begin at 9 a.m. and will end when all the nets gave been given out.

Captain Meredith closes, “Again, we are thankful that there are those willing to assist our community’s most vulnerable this summer since need knows no season!”
