BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - About two dozen students, faculty and staff members gathered on LSU's campus Thursday to remember the 49 victims of the Orlando massacre.
The open forum about the deadly incident sparked a deeper conversation as the country continues to heal from the tragedy and look for ways to move forward.
"It's very important to honor them because without this having happened to them we wouldn't have an opportunity to grow," said student organizer Ethan Guerra-Deslatte.
"Sometimes when national tragedies like this happen it doesn't just impact the one community, it impacts everyone," said Mary Wallace the director of Campus Life.
Participants expressed a strong desire to hold a similar conversation again in the fall when more students are on campus.
