BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A two-month investigation into internet sex crimes against children has led to the arrest of 56 people across the state. Operation Broken Heart was conducted in April and May. Sixteen of those arrests were made in the Baton Rouge area.
This is the third time the state has participated in this task force, and authorities say parents need to remain vigilant in order to help prevent their children from being targeted.
Col. Michael Edmonson of the Louisiana State Police, says, "Take that computer that's tucked away in your kid's bedroom, bring it out in the public. You should know your kids' password, you should know what they are using, you should sit down at the computer and look with them."
174 agencies on the local, state, and federal level participated in Operation Broken Heart.
