BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - As its next performance, the Bridge Nouveau Theatre Company will be performing Lanford Wilson's Pulitzer Prize winning play Talley's Folly, directed by Alicia Hanley.
Gregory Leute will be playing Matt Friedman and Michele Guidry will be playing Sally Talley. Shows begin July 7 and run through July 9. Performances will be held at The Guru located in the Circa 1857 complex on Government Street. The box office opens at 6:30 p.m. with shows starting an hour later.
The play is a funny and heart-warming one, about finding love when you've nearly given up looking. At the end of WWII, Matt Friedman, a Jewish immigrant, returns to a small town where he first met Sally Talley. Sally, a nurse, is nothing like her family and neighbors and has fear for her country's future. Matt eventually asks for Sally's hand in marriage and convinces her they truly do belong together.
The play first premiered in 1979 and moved to Broadway in 1980. Lanford Wilson received a Tony Award nomination for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
