HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - A trailer containing 18 cattle was discovered early Monday morning on I-12 E near Hammond. The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office (TPSO) are investigating the case.
The trailer contained two flat tires and had no tags to identify the owner. LDAF commissioner, Mike Strain, D.V.M, says, "We are looking for any information that may help us reunite these cattle with their owner. We are also working with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office to determine who left these cattle on the side of the road and why."
According to TPSO, the investigation is not necessarily a criminal one at this time. While the cattle are being held at a local stockyard, the sheriff's office asks anyone with any information about the case to call the LDAF at (866) 927-2476, the TPSO at (985) 345-6150, or the Tangipahoa Humane Society at (985) 351-0181.
