BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man escaped from the window of his room at Baton Rouge Behavioral Hospital around 10:30 Saturday morning and stole an Acadian ambulance.
Officials say the man, Christopher Eugene Porter, 40, damaged his window and ran across the street to Affinity Nursing, where the ambulance was on scene to transport a patient. Porter entered the unoccupied ambulance and drove away.
Acadian was able to track the ambulance and provide police with the GPS location. Porter refused to stop, but was later caught on Scenic Hwy., where he was taken into custody. Porter was then transported to LSU Clinic for medical treatment and was later booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of criminal damage to property, theft of motor vehicle, and flight from an officer.
