BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Two more cases of Zika virus were confirmed in Louisiana, according to the state's Department of Health.
Officials said the patients sought medical care in Louisiana after traveling separately to regions outside the country where there are ongoing Zika issues.
The two patients started showing symptoms after returning and quickly sought treatment. They have recovered from the viral infection and no longer have the Zika virus in their blood, according to officials.
According to DH, these are the fifth and sixth cases of Zika cases that were associated with travel to be confirmed in the state. So far, all six Louisiana residents who have been infected have recovered.
The cases have been reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which is keeping count of Zika cases in each state and across the country.
Officials said there have not been any confirmed cases in Louisiana or the rest of the country that came from local transmission.
