BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - One side of Skip Bertman Drive will remain closed for several days as crews work to make emergency repairs to the roadway.
According to the East Baton Rouge City-Parish Department of Transportation, the portion of the road located between River Road and Nicholson Drive. Two westbound lanes are closed and traffic is being diverted into one lane of travel in both directions in the eastbound lanes.
Officials note that the road is not in danger of collapsing. They added that the problem is due to the city's sanitary sewer overflow program and they are repairing a base failure.
The road is expected to remain closed for up to a week.
