Crime Stoppers: Police search for attempted murder suspect considered 'armed and dangerous'

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police are asking for people to be on the lookout for a suspect considered armed and dangerous.

Greater Baton Rouge Crime Stoppers reported the Baton Rouge Police Department is trying to find Joseph Edwards, 36.

He is described as 5' 11" tall and weighs 154 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and a mole on his right cheek.

Investigators said Edwards fired several shots at a home on 71st Avenue on June 6, hitting a man several times. The victim was taken to the hospital and survived his injuries.

Authorities reported Edwards was indicted by an East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury in connection with the shooting.

Edwards is wanted on charges of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Officials noted he was convicted of manslaughter in 2002.
