Resident strikes home invader with cooking pot in self defense

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - On Saturday night, June 11, a man broke into a home on Greenwell Springs Road and got more than he bargained for.

Jemon Palmer entered the home of the victim through a bedroom window and proceeded to crawl across the victim's bed, who then asked him what he was doing. The victim's sister is reportedly Palmer's girlfriend. The victim claims Palmer appeared to be drunk and/or high.

Palmer then attempted to enter the girlfriend's bedroom and reportedly became aggressive, approaching the victim with his hands raised in a fighting stance. Palmer then allegedly punched the victim in the face. He and the victim fought briefly as the victim moved towards the kitchen to put distance between himself and Palmer.

The victim then armed himself with a cooking pot and used it to hit Palmer over the head as Palmer lunged towards him. According to the victim, Palmer then left and was taken to Our Lady of the Lake by the victim's father. A two-year-old child was present in the home at the time of the incident.

Palmer was then arrested after being released from OLOL and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
