BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating an accidental shooting that left a woman dead.
Police say they were called to the scene of a one vehicle accident in the 3500 block of Wayne Avenue around 3:40 p.m. Saturday.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered that a woman, 20-year-old Ajeanae Frazer, had been shot. Frazer was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation, officers learned that Frazer's boyfriend, 25-year-old Michael Hasten, had been involved in an altercation earlier in the day and returned home to get help so that he could retaliate.
According to investigators, Hasten gave an assault rifle to a 16-year-old who got into the vehicle with Hasten and Frazer.
While riding in the vehicle, the rifle accidentally discharged striking Frazer in the upper torso.
Police say Hasten's father, 50-year-old Mark Warner, allegedly removed the rifle from the scene and hid it before police arrived.
The 16-year-old was arrested and taken to the East Baton Rouge Juvenile Detention Center where he has been booked with negligent homicide and illegal possession of a firearm.
Hasten was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and felon in possession of a firearm.
Warner was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he has been charged with obstruction of justice and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
