Baton Rouge man arrested after domestic incident involving his premature newborn infant

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - On Friday, June 10, police responded to a call on Larchwood Drive that a man, Joshua Reed, was wielding a knife and refused to put it down.

Victims on the scene say Reed had a fight with the mother of his newborn child because he refused to bring the premature baby into the house. Reed allegedly struck another victim involved as well, who was trying to prevent him from getting the knife. Reed also kicked in two doors inside the house while the victim was trying to hide in a bathroom.

When officers arrived, Reed was holding his newborn child and refused to put the child down after instructions to do so from family members and police.

Reed was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He is charged with domestic abuse battery (child endangerment), criminal damage to property, and aggravated assault.
