Thibodaux Police arrest accused thief already on parole for felony theft charge

THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) -

Thibodaux Police arrested an accused thief who was already on parole for a similar crime. 

Dre Robertson, 23, of Thibodaux, was arrested and charged with felony theft of goods.

According to police, Robertson allegedly stole various items from a store in the 1200 block of Talbot Avenue around 4 p.m. Thursday, May 26. 

Robertson is accused of putting a plastic tote inside a buggy and filling it up before walking out of the store with the items, which were valued at more than $750. 

Police say they were called on Tuesday, May 31 after store workers noticed the theft while reviewing camera footage. They were later able to identify the thief as Robertson, who is known for thefts in that area.

According to police, Robertson was already on parole for felony theft of goods. Police said Robertson was taken into custody on Thursday, June 9 by Louisiana Probation and Parole and then transferred into Thibodaux Police's custody. 

Robertson was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
