BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Crime Stoppers has announced that the mother of a three-year-old who was accidentally shot in the face by her 6-year-old brother in May has been arrested.

Police arrested 26-year-old Augustus Beachem Friday on Elm Grove Garden Drive.

According to police, Beachem's 6-year-old son was playing with a loaded gun belonging 25-year-old Clark Hollis when the gun accidentally went off striking his 3-year-old sister in the face.

Beachem and Hollis are accused of waiting two hours before taking the girl to the hospital and not calling EMS. Police also say that the two of them allegedly conspired to hide the gun because Hollis is a convicted felon.

The 3-year-old was treated at a local hospital and later released.

Hollis was arrested Thursday without incident and has been charged felon in possession of a firearm, second-degree cruelty to a juvenile and obstruction of justice.
