BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Police Department is looking for a woman in connection with the accidental shooting of a 3-year-old child.
Augustus Beachem, 26, is wanted for second-degree cruelty to a juvenile and obstruction of justice.
On Saturday, May 14, Baton Rouge Police investigated an accidental shooting of a 3-year-old girl by her 6-year-old brother.
Police discovered the children's parents, Beachem and 25-year-old Clark Hollis, had left a loaded gun inside the home where children could get to it.
According to police, the 6-year-old was able to find the gun and was playing with a it at a home in the 4300 block of Denham Street when the gun accidentally went off hitting his 3-year-old sister in the face.
Beachem and Hollis are accused of waiting two hours before taking the child to the hospital and never tried to call EMS.
Police said Beachem and Hollis then allegedly conspired to hide the gun from authorities because Clark is a convicted felon. The gun has still not been located as of yet, according to officials.
Hollis, was taken into custody Thursday in connection with the incident. He was wanted on charges of felon in possession of a firearm, second-degree cruelty to a juvenile, and obstruction of justice.
Officials said Beachem is currently on the run with her four children, including the 3-year-old who was released from the hospital.
