Your Turn: Children who die after being left in hot vehicles

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

This week’s Your Turn segment goes to Lydia Pike. Pike and many other people reacted on our Facebook page to the story about the eight-month-old child who died this week after being left in a hot car. Pike is concerned this is happening way too often. In her words:

Didn't we just see a report of a woman who even stopped at the daycare to pick up her child only to realize she forgot to drop him off in the morning? This is scary. Parents are getting overwhelmed with work and life and losing focus. People, set alarms on your phone to ask yourself," do you know where your child is right now." Spouses, call and check to make sure everything is OK. No one is above making this mistake. I would think that busy, working people are more likely to, but anybody could.

That’s Lydia Pike’s turn. Now it’s your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, visit us on Facebook or send an email to yourturn@wafb.com.
