BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office is searching for a woman they say attempted to cash a fraudulent check twice.
According to deputies, a black female walked into a local business and attempted to cash an IRS income tax check belonging to the victim claiming that it belonged to a family member. The clerk refused to cash the check after recognizing the name on the check as a regular customer.
The clerk then told deputies that the suspect returned the next day without her blonde wig on and attempted to cash the same check a second time with a fake ID. The clerk once again refused to cash the check.
Deputies say the suspect left the business in a black Dodge jeep style vehicle.
If you have any information about the incident or the suspect's whereabouts, you are asked to call the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office at 225-389-5000 or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
