LSU-Coastal Carolina: Meet the Chanticleers

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU will host Coastal Carolina this weekend at The Box, with the winner of the best-of-three series heading to Omaha for the College World Series.

Coastal scored four runs in the ninth inning to beat North Carolina State, 7-5, and advance to the Baton Rouge Super Regional.

The Chanticleers are 47-16 overall and 21-3 in the Big South Conference. The team has won 17 of their last 19 games.

Coastal Carolina is hitting .301 as a team including 101 doubles and 91 home runs.

Connor Owings leads the team with a .373 average. He has hit 16 doubles and 15 home runs this year.
Billy Cooke is hitting .352 and has hit 15 doubles.
Zach Remillard has a .348 batting average with 18 home runs and 67 RBI.
GK Young is hitting .342 with 16 home runs and 63 RBI.

The Chanticleers have a team ERA of 3.45 this year.

Andrew Beckwith is 12-1 on the season with a 1.82 ERA. He has started six of his 22 pitching appearances.
Alex Cunningham is 9-3 with a 3.66 ERA. He has 14 starts in 18 pitching appearances this season
Bobby Homes is 4-2 this year with a 4.52 ERA.
Mike Morrison is 7-1 with a sparkling .079 ERA. He has 10 saves in his 30 appearances out of the bullpen.

First pitch of game one is scheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m. from  Alex Box Stadium. The game will air on ESPNU.
