BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Help could be on the way for people affected by storms that passed through Louisiana in May.
The Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) reported Gov. John Bel Edwards has requested the Small Business Administration (SBA) offer disaster assistance loans for people in Assumption Parish who qualify for them.
The severe weather passed through the area on May 19 and consisted of strong straight line winds that caused damage to homes and businesses.
Officials said a survey done by the SBA on May 31 determined more than 50 homes or businesses had some type of damage.
More information will be released if the SBA honors the governor's request.
