GREENSBURG, LA (WAFB) - The small St. Helena town of Greensburg is still trying to sort out who will serve as mayor until its newly elected one is sworn in until later this year.
A motion to appoint Mayor-elect Willie Hurst early was not seconded, and no one else was nominated.
Hurst was elected in March, but will not take office until December 1. He was recently the subject of a 9News investigation of alleged interference in a domestic violence investigation.
However, Greensburg's current mayor, Burke Jones, recently resigned.
The issue of an interim mayor will be brought up at the next meeting. If no one is selected, one would then be appointed by Gov. John Bel Edwards.
