UNDATED - A recently released study ranks Louisiana as one of the least safe states in the US.
WalletHub analysts listed Louisiana at No. 45 in a report comparing the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
The report measured safety in several areas. They included home and community, financial, road, workplace and natural disasters.
Home and community safety looked at murders, rapes and other violent crimes (Rank: 40). Financial focused on insurance, unemployment and more (Rank: 46). Road centered on deadly crashes, DUIs and other areas (Rank: 39). Workplace analyzed injuries on the job (Rank: 43). Natural disasters included number of disasters and property loss (Rank: 34).
Vermont was named the safest state, while Mississippi was determined to be the least safe.
